Quiksilver Pro – Round 2

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

quikpro2

For all of our customers who are surfers using the Indo board  to improve their surfing, here’s an update on the Quicksilver Pro happening in Australia…

After nearly a week of lay days, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by LG Mobile roared back to life today, with the world’s best surfers exploding at Duranbah Beach and Snapper Rocks.

Event No. 1 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast opened up the day’s proceedings with the first eight heats of the elimination Round 2 at nearby Duranbah Beach before relocating back to the primary site of Snapper Rocks to finish the day out.

Dane Reynolds (USA), 23, 2009 ASP Dream Tour sophomore, scored the first perfect 10 of the 2009 ASP World Tour season for an incredible righthander in which he linked a barrage of high-performance maneuvers including a massive double-grab aerial seamlessly flowing into another exciting air reverse.

“It was a nice wave, it was begging for it,” Reynolds said. “I’m pretty excited as I’ve never gotten a 10 before. I think the more I just think about the wave and the less I think about a heat, the better I end up surfing. I have less pressure on myself that way.”

Reynolds’ elimination of friend and neighbor Nathaniel Curran (USA), 24, 2009 ASP Dream Tour rookie, in Round 2 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, was a combination of his historic talent combined with an uncharacteristic tactical approach during the heat, utilizing priority to take a scoring wave off of Curran.

“There is less of a build up this year because the rivalry between Jordy [Smith] and myself has been forgotten,” Reynolds said. “Last year, I tried my hardest not to think about it, but it was difficult to surf under that pressure and always having Jordy [Smith] on the back of my mind. It really messed with me mentally.”

Reynolds will face Roy Powers (HAW), 28, in Round 3 when Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast competition resumes.

Exercise and Do Something Good for the Environment

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

If you want to get some good exercise and you love the beach, here’s a fun project for you this Saturday, February 28th, at Seal Beach in Southern California!

One of our favorite environmental groups here at Buy-Indo-Boards.com is Save Our Beach.

They’re having their “Monthly Beach Cleanup” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 1st Street Beach Lot (corner of Ocean & 1st) in Seal Beach.

Here are a few of the groups that are coming this month!
- Santa Fe Springs High School
- OC UCLA Alumni Group
- OC Project Access
- Chapman Univ Delta Tau Delta & Phi Gamma Delta
- Church Ministry Group from Riverside
- 1st Christina Church from Carson
- Cal Poly High School Dance Group

As always, they provide parking, garbage bags, protective gloves, hand sanitizers, drinking water and certificates if you need one for community service credit.

They’ll be there rain or shine so why not get out, get some exercise, do something good for your local beach and come on out to support them and pick up some trash.  :-)

It Never Rains In California

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Ya, right! It’s freakin’ POURING here in Southern California today so guess what our employees are doing? Yep, since they can’t skate or surf today they’ve all got their Indo boards out and are riding while they work – sweet!!

Balancing while they talk on the phone or during their breaks, they’re all getting in a great workout and maintaining their balance and shape for whatever board sport they play even though it’s totally wet and rainy outside.

So keep that in mind when you’re shopping for a balance board – they’re a terrific way to stay in shape and work many of the same muscles you do when you ride just about any other board, (skateboard, surfboard, snowboard, etc), BUT you can ride an Indo Board balance board inthe warm, dry comfort of your home, (or in theis case, office).  :-)
